Just broke up...

"The best part of being out of a relationship...plenty of time to catch up with your friends." {Carrie, Sex and the City, Season 2, Episode 25 "Games People Play"}

How do you feel after a break-up? How long after do you start dating? Do you go out with friends to de-stress? Do you write? Do you stalk the person on MySpace/Facebook/Hi5, etc.? When is it okay to sleep with someone else if your ex broke up with you? What about if you broke up with them?
Excellent songs....

It wall depends on the situation. I know a lot of girls feel wierd talking to other guys even after they've been out of the relationship for months. There is always that, what if we get back together factor. Also, sometimes people are on break, which means you are on break and hes allowed to see other people.... U know the "I think we need time apart..../ We are moving too fast..." One of those. But you learn that for the person that suggests the break, they don't really want you to talk/ see other people while on break. Even though u have the right to. I could go on and on...

You are completely correct K Storm. As with many if not all relationship issues, this is a very subjective topic. There is no real answer. Generally speaking though it does seem like the person that suggests the breakup get's a little upset when they know you are moving on. Why is that?! geez!!

Upon breaking up, I actually prefer to find a date within 24 hours. I know it sounds somewhat strange, but it's an excellent way to cope. In the words of my homegirls Joni Mitchell and Janet Jackson, "Don't it always seem to go... That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone." Now that the relationship is gone, go see what you got! Go see what you had! Most importantly, go see what you deserve!! In sum, my personal suggestion is to become a habitual dater after ending a relationship. There are many fish in the sea, so why not catch them all?!? And by catch, I mean sleep with. Just kidding! But really, date... a lot. It's fun... and let's keep it real - who can turn down a free meal with gas prices these days?
